If you haven’t heard of Dîner en Blanc, do not fear – it is intended to be hush-hush.

Guests are instructed to “dress in white, be chic, be elegant” and are then whisked away to a secret location for a magical evening under the stars.

It all began in Paris in 1988 when a man by the name of François Pasquier invited his friends to meet for an elegant outdoor dinner, asking them to dress in white to identify one another.

Today Dîner on Blanc is held in over 50 cities globally, with a universal concept of bringing people from diverse backgrounds together to enjoy an evening of good food, wine and company.

This year’s event was held at Melbourne’s Docklands and, just like last year, felt like that perfect New Year’s Eve you always hope to have.

I wore a white dress by We Are Kindred, an emerging Australian label lead by sisters Lizzie and Georgie Renkert. Between them, they share an impressive background in fashion. Lizzie is the former editor of Madison magazine and Georgie spent almost a decade at Apparel Group, the company that designs and manages the brands Willow, Saba, Sportscraft and JAG.

We Are Kindred focusses on bringing collections which are modern and feminine with a touch of bohemia. I have let the details of the dress shine by pulling my hair into a sleek ponytail and keeping it simple with accessories.
